Does anyone find themselves using what they learn?
May 18 2009, 11:11 PM EDT
ok just wondering if people are taking the information they learn from lie to me and using? i just watched something on oprah about a couple whos child went missing and i just started pickin up on things i wouldnt normally. like when she said she worries and misses her constantly she had a one shoulder shrug. which i believe to be lying. but i have to double check so dont quote me.but is anyone else interperating people differently..im definantly lookin into this more. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Hey yeah I definately am using the stuff I've learned. Like take my mom for example, I think she's set a record of lying in 10 minutes. But yeah I'll be watching TV when I'll notice something I wouldn' normally notice, it's kind of cool and scary at the same time.

yes and no .on tv yes i will look at political peopal , since thay usualy alwis lie , it's simpel to spot :) Obama is very intresting with his hands , looks very friendly but most time thows hands are not and his face muches the hands( but thats just me ) i think he realy needs to feel in contrul and uses his hands to do so... thers more but not here :) in day to day life it's harder some times i will spot somthing ... a lie is hard since , i think , the'rs more to how to spot a lie thers the why and all that , discst i do spot some times, anger , sadnes. well thows are my 2 cents ;) Do you find this valuable? |

A lot. A few days ago, while i was out with my friends, i saw that my best friend's boyfriend lied to her. A little white lie, but i spotted it. That left me feeling smug, lol. It's becoming pretty easy for me to identify lies, i became more perceptive. Real useful stuff.

Yeah but you know I try not to do that to my family members. That practice would suck all the time. Sometimes I have to look at my 13 year old. Hey, he's a teenager! I will check out people when I go to the store and especially at cosmetic counters. Those women lie so much it isn't even funny. I can count how many times some of them have had the guts to look me in the face most of conversation. Ladies, check that out sometimes. Cosmetics cost quite a few dollars and it is worth exploring.

So I already replied to this but that was a while ago. Now I'm looking more into the science and I've noticed that I'm seeing more than just the lies y'know? I mean it's like I woke up and realized the world wasn't just black and white, there's a whole lot a gray in between. Sometimes it hurts knowing the truth especially when the person that's lying is very close to you or hurting someone you care about. However the thing is and as it has been said many times once you learn this you can't switch it off so as far as family goes I try not to pay too much attention but I think I'll be the pope before I turn this off. But in a way, sometimes I don't mind that I see too much. It's helped me a lot with my friends when they were going through some rough times and because I saw something I was able to relate to them and help them out. To me the pros outweigh the cons so as scary as the science is I've found myself using it more and more often.

I really use it a lot. I did look into the science and read a lot. now I sometimes watch the news and then out of nothing I say that person is lying. nine out of ten times later on it comes out hi/she was lying. also I inmediatly know when one of my teachers are lying. I got one so far to talk about his problems with his wife.. a really nice artical is: http://www.gladwell.com/2002/2002_08_05_a_face.htmI also have more friends and more people come to me for advise... really cool!!! It's invaluable for seeing what he's feeling when his language skills are still very basic. Poor little blighter does get frustrated. I've got a two week holiday coming up where I'm going to use the time develop my own skills and work on my weaknesses, then, hopefully, I'll be taking the Masters course that's starting later this year. I have to agree it's more than just lies, it's about recognising emotions and responding, or not, to what you see. I'm going to keep writing about this experience on my blog, feel free to jump in to conversation if you fancy working together to develop our skills. http://www.frankcoles.com/writing/how-to-lie-to-me-real-world-microexpressions-training/ Here's hoping for a series four!
